Луганський національний університет імені Тараса Шевченка

University Day

Today Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has celebrated the 98th anniversary of its founding.

During this time, the University has experienced many ups and downs, the place of location has changed, time has changed. However, in spite of everything it continues to work for a single goal – a happy future for Ukraine. Unfortunately, teachers, students and staff celebrated this holiday in the Starobilsk district for the fifth year in a row.

The program of celebratory events began with the opening ceremony of university-wide exhibitions, at which educational and scientific institutes, faculties and separate structural divisions presented their scientific achievements, creative works, design developments and much more.

A significant event of this day was the opening of a new pedagogy room, equipped according to modern requirements, defined by the concept of the New Ukrainian School. Now teachers will be able to conduct trainings and master classes, and students will be able to practice using the latest educational technologies. And in order to show what they had already learned, the future teachers demonstrated elements of lessons in elementary school.

According to tradition, a joint meeting of the Academic Council and the conference of the university staff was held. On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the founding of the University, the chairman of the Supervisory Council, people’s deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo congratulated the teaching staff and students.

Traditionally on this day at the meeting of the Academic Council the honorary titles “Honorary Professor of LTSNU”, “Honorary Doctor of Science of LTSNU”, “Honored Worker of LTSNU”, “The best student of LTSNU” and university diplomas were awarded for the significant contribution to the development of the university and significant achievements in educational activities.

In the program of celebrations, a bright event was a gala concert, during which students and teachers congratulated each other on the holiday. The songs and choreographic compositions were performed on the stage.

The logical finale of the festive events was a concert by a graduate of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, the winner of the X-factor project Dmytro Babak, which took place in the Starobilsk Taras Shevchenko District House of Culture.

Despite the difficult trials of fate, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University continues to be the flagship of higher education in the eastern region.

Happy birthday, dear Alma Mater!
