Academic Council meeting

A joint meeting of the Academic Council and the conference of the university staff was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

The agenda addressed issues:

• report of the Rector of the State institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”;
• about the celebration of the 98th anniversary of the founding of the University;
• about awarding the honorary title “The Best Student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”;
• about awarding honorary titles “Honorary Professor of LTSNU”, “Honorary Doctor of Science of LTSNU”, “Honorary Worker of LTSNU” and awarding the “Honorary Diploma of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Vitalii Kurylo congratulated teachers, staff and students.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration on Industrial Policy, Housing and Public Utilities, Architecture, Defense, Mobilization Work and Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies Yurii Klimenko; Deputy Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration on Social and Humanitarian Issues Olga Lishik; Chairman of Starobilsk District State Administration Anatolii Garkavyi; Deputy Chairman of the Starobilsk District Council Serhii Domarev.

The guests congratulated those present on the founding day of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and thanked the labor collective for their contribution to the development of the scientific and educational potential of the region.

In the annual report, the Rector of the State University “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” Serhii Savchenko noted that in 2018 significant results were obtained in all areas of the University: increase in the number of students; improving the quality of staff; organizing educational activities and ensuring the quality of the educational process; educational, methodological and informational support of the educational process; effectiveness of research, innovation, international and socio-humanitarian activities; development of material and technical base and social infrastructure. Speaking about the innovation, the University was ahead of other higher educational institutions of Ukraine, as evidenced by the university’s place in the national and international rankings in 2018.

In 2018, the information support of the educational process improved. The work of the online radio station “University Wave” has become an improvement in advertising and career guidance. This is an information platform, which today has become a source of transparent, objective and reliable information for residents of the controlled and uncontrolled territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions by Ukrainian authorities.

During 2018, 5 agreements were signed with universities of China, Poland, Latvia on cooperation in the field of educational, scientific, cultural activities and the implementation of specific scientific projects.

The development of student self-government at the University, in the institutes and at the faculties is gaining momentum. Among the important activities of the student self-government is the establishment of partnerships with students from other higher educational institutions and public organizations to exchange experience. Thus, during 2018, active university students took part in study visits on sharing experience: in Ivano-Frankivsk region (Yaroslav Chepel), in Vinnytsia region (Inna Salo) in order to learn best practices in planning and implementing community development projects and building effective civil societies; in the Czech Republic, where they studied the issues of youth participation in community mobilization, inclusiveness of education, environmental education.

Among the miscellanea, a report on scientific and technical activities was approved; young scientists – scholars of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Artem Galych and Alena Manko were certified; scientific publications were recommended for publication; dissertations topics as well as the self-analysis report of the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College of LTSNU were approved.

At the meeting of the Academic Council, on the basis of the voting, it was decided to confer honorary titles and present awards. The title “The Best Student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” was awarded to master student of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications Vladyslav Radchenko.

The title of “Honorary Professor of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” was awarded to the Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and General Linguistics, Acting Head of the Educational Department Valentyna Lesnova; Associate Professor of the Department of Biology and Agronomy Serhii Vovk; Associate Professor of the Department of World Literature and Russian Linguistics Svitlana Shpetna.

The title “Honorary Doctor of Science of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” was awarded to the employee of the Czech Development Agency Jan Peyril.

The Deputy Dean for Academic Work of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Olga Hubska was awarded the Honorary Diploma of LTSNU for the conscientious work, high professionalism, high-quality training of specialists, significant personal contribution to the development of national education, significant achievements in the organization of educational activities and on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the founding of the University.

The honorary title “Honorary Worker of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” was conferred to Mykhailo Sapizhak, Director of the Brianka College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University; Viktor Tkachenko, Deputy Director for Educational Work of the Regional Center for Vocational Education of LTSNU, and Deputy Director for Teaching and Industrial Training of the Regional Center for Vocational Education of LTSNU Andrii Gapotchenko.

Also, teachers and employees were awarded diplomas of Luhansk Regional State Administration, diplomas of the Department of Education and Science of LRSA, certificates of the Luhansk Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science of Ukraine, certificates of Starobilsk District State Administration and Starobilsk District Council, honorary diplomas and certificates of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
