Olympiads at the FUPSC

During February, the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications held Olympiads in various disciplines for the first-fourth year students.
The first stage of the Olympiad in the Ukrainian Language and Literature, and Journalism was held in order to familiarize students with the basic concepts of the theory of informational, analytical and artistic-publicistic genres in the context of general genology, specifics of the object, subject and methods of study, formation of the communicative competence of the individual, improving the quality of training highly qualified specialists, searching for talented students at the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications.
The Olympiads were held to identify and support gifted students, develop and implement professional competence, stimulate students’ creative work, increase interest in the quality of education, and enhance student learning and cognitive activity. Teachers of the Department developed a set of theoretical, practical and creative tasks, criteria for their evaluation, guidelines for preparing students for the Olympiad.
The first places in the Ukrainian language were distributed as follows:
- Nina Soroka (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”, 1st year);
- Anastasia Kliuchka (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature”, 3rd year);
- Anastasia Gorban (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”, 3rd year).
The first places in the Ukrainian literature were distributed as follows:
- Nina Soroka (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”, 1st year);
- Natalia Korineva (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English), 2nd year);
- Anastasia Gorobii (specialty “Ukrainian Language and Literature”, 3rd year);
- Anastasia Gorban (spec. “Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”, 3rd year.
The first places in Journalism were taken by:
- Serhii Bryukhovetsky (specialty “Journalism”, 1st year);
- Oleksandr Staritsky (specialty “Journalism”, 2nd year);
- Olena Smitanina (specialty “Journalism”, 3 year);
- Tetiana Tsarevska (special. “Journalism. Publishing and Editing”, 3rd year).
The participants of the Olympiad demonstrated an adequate level of knowledge in the disciplines, originality of thinking in performing creative tasks, and sufficient theoretical and practical training. The analysis of the quality of students’ performance of the proposed tasks allowed to draw conclusions about the positive achievements of students in mastering the disciplines.
