The Department of Algebra and System Analysis is actively continuing career guidance work, in which it took part in the conduct of the mathematical tournament in the city of Rubizhne.
On February 9, teachers of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis took an active part in conducting the first city tournament of young mathematicians on the basis of Rubizhne Secondary School No. 9. The tournament was attended by seven teams of ninth-eleventh grade pupils from seven schools of the city of Rubizhne. The chairman of the jury of the tournament was the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis Anatolii Zhuchok. The jury consisted of Yurii Zhuchok, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis; Olena Toichkina, Assistant of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis, and six master students majoring in “Mathematics. Secondary Education” of our University. The well-coordinated work of the teaching staff of the school No. 9 and the representatives of the department made it possible to hold a mathematical tournament at a high organizational and methodological level. The event was held in two rounds: I round – rating Olympiad, II round – mathematical fights between school teams. In the first round, students solved math problems, and in the second, some teams defended problem solving in the form of scientific discussion, others acted as opponents and reviewers. Based on the overall rating of the teams, the winners of the first city tournament were determined.
As part of the career guidance work, meetings of pupils, who were participants of the tournament, with representatives of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis were held. Representatives of the University distributed promotional materials about the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies among pupils of schools and invited them to study at our University.
We are looking forward to meeting with school graduates as students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University next year!
