LNU Athlete is Going to the World Universiade – 2015

LNU master’s student  may participate in the World Universiade – 2015 which will be conducted in South Korea this summer.

Serhii Kopanaiko gained such possibility having won the national Universiade – 2015 in Kyiv. “He was the best in the 110 meters hurdles. Serhii won the gold medal for our university and became the candidate for the World Universiade,” – told the Head of the Department of Sports Disciplines of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk National University Yurii Podkolzin.

But the sportsman does not hurry to take joy. He says there are two important stages coming which can change the situation. “There is a Team Cup of Ukraine in a week and the Championship of Ukraine a little later. My performance there will effect on my going to South Korea. By the way, these two competitions are the eliminatory for more serious ones – European Team Championship and the World Championship” – explained Serhii Kopanaiko.

LNU believes in Serhii in spite of his doubts. For today, he is the best hurdler of Ukraine, keeping leadership for about 4 years. Since 2006 the sportsman has been a part of national team. The athlete has participations and victories at the Ukrainian, European and World Championships.
