Luhansk University Moves Partly to Poltava

Two subdivisions of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University are transferred from Starobilsk to Poltava.

Faculty of Foreign Languages and Institute of Culture and Arts of LNU will change their “place of residence”. This was announced at the university rectorate.

Recently LNU administration has signed an agreement with Poltava University of Economics and Trade. “According to this document receiving party provides a hostel and lecture rooms for our use. Students will be provided with all necessary,” – noted Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages Ivan Karpenko.

The decision to move, they say at LNU, was taken for several reasons. “Firstly, it is important for us to create conditions for student education. We have creative specialties, so individual and practical trainings in professionally oriented disciplines must be held stationary. Secondly, we want to return the contingent of foreign students. Today this is impossible, because we are close to the zone of ATO. And Poltava is quiet and peaceful, there we will create favorable conditions for foreigners training,” – told Director of the Institute of Culture and Arts of LNU Inna Stashevska.

But departments are not intended to leave Starobilsk completely. They are worried for students who are not able to move to Poltava. “We take into account the wishes and possibilities of our students. So the next academic year we will work on two parts: in Starobilsk and in Poltava. In addition, the system of full-time – remote learning is still valid. It concerns the block of general subjects,” – noted Inna Olehivna.

Karpenko agree with colleague and says: “Work in the Moodle system is very convenient and productive for the educational process participants. In our case it will be a good assistant and addition to stationary training. So, of course, we will not give up this format.”

Also LNU noted that the move to Poltava was a temporary measure. The university assured, as soon as Luhansk is librated the university in full force will come back.
