All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference

All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference was conducted at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in Starobilsk.
A conference “Modern Tendencies in Ukrainian, Russian and Foreign Languages Teaching at Educational Establishments of Different Types” was held on May 15. It was organized by the Department of Philological Disciplines of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of LNU.
The event participants include educative staff of the universities of Luhansk region, Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University, Taras Shevchenko Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Pedagogical College of Cherkasy Regional Council, Kherson State University, teachers of schools from Starobilsk district of Luhansk region, methodologists, postgraduate and master students.
The event was aimed to exchange the results of scientific and practical researches and experience in important problems in Ukrainian, Russian and foreign languages teaching at general education establishments and pre-school education establishments; define promising directions for improving quality of training preschool-age children, general education school pupils and students. The following issues were suggested for discussion:
- Innovative methods for literary reading lessons. Ways of children’s book popularization.
- Speech development methods for pupils of primary, intermediate and senior educational levels.
- Active methods of teaching preschool-age children at the speech development lessons.
- Didactic game as a method of speech development for preschool children and pupils.
- Development of communicative, language and speech competence of school pupils.
The conference conducted a presentation of social and cultural project “All Ukraine Reads for Children” started by the Research Center of Children’s and Youth Literature (the City of Lviv, the Chairman – U.S. Hnidets). The conference participants had a possibility to learn about Center activity, experience of Literary Festival “Dyvokrai”, events initiated by the members of Research Center of Children’s and Youth Literature in Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kramatorsk and other cities of Ukraine.
According to the conference results the department teachers (Head of Department of Philological Disciplines N.V. Mordovtseva, prof. V.V. Kyzylova, lecturer N.V. Pravova) initiated a series of events aimed at popularization of children’s book and reading. So, Starobilshchina schools conduct literary races “Through the Pages of Favorite Books” and competitions for the best reader (April – June 2015) at the primary classes. The children are suggested to create the album of their own illustrations to the favorite books with the reading of corresponding extracts (“Live, Book!”). IPP students jointly with Starobilshchina school pupils established “Virtual Encyclopedia of the Best Books for Children” and action “There are No Vacation at a Book!” intended on reading and discussing children’s books of modern authors (Zirka Menzatiuk, Volodymyr Rutkovskyo, Lesia Voronina and others).
