“Ecological New Year Tree” at the University

The thematic exhibition “Ecological New Year Tree” took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

On December 5, within the “Save the New Year Tree” campaign, a thematic exhibition “The Ecological New Year Tree” was held, which was organized by the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Natalia Matsai, Dean of the Faculty, says: “The exhibition is a great opportunity to support the action against the cutting of spruce, and also to find something special and unusual for the New Year.”

Many products could be seen today in the hall of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Students of various university departments prepared New Year trees and New Year’s crafts from various materials, but the main condition was one thing – environmental friendliness. So, edible, iron, ribbon trees were presented, and the most surprising were New Year trees from medical gloves and the “live New Year tree”, which was played by Alina Ivanchenko, a student of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism.

In addition, they organized workshops for the manufacture of such decorations. So, they taught the youth to make crafts from knitting yarns, sheets of paper, pasta, cogs. And Oleksandra Kononenko showed how to make a tasty and beautiful New Year tree from tangerines and stressed: “You can make such a New Year tree for the New Year too, because it’s fast, and after the holiday you can eat it right away”.

At the end of the exhibition, the competition jury chose winners in various nominations, including “Creative New Year Tree”, “New Year’s Bouquet”, “New Year’s Wreath”, “Subject Composition” and “New Year’s Picture or Collage”. All participants and students-organizers were awarded certificates and gifts provided by the Primary Trade Union Organization of our University.
