The first plenary meeting of XIV All-Ukrainian Viktor Uzhchenko Scientific and Practical Conference “Образне слово Луганщини” was held on May 15 at LNU in Starobilsk.
This year it is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of its founder – Viktor Dmytrovych Uzhchenko. Viktor Uzhchenko – Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences, famous phraseologist, founder of Luhansk Phraseological Science School – for a long time was a Head of the Department of Ukrainian Language at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
At starting the conference “Образне слово Луганщини” was just regional but over time it has reached the All-Ukrainian level. This year the conference was participated in by famous scientists and beginners who represented Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and such higher educational establishments as Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Kryvyi Rih National University, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi Hryhorii Skovoroda State Pedagogical University, Zaporizhzhya National University, Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities, Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, separate divisions “Lysychansk Pedagogical College”, “Stakhanov Pedagogical College of LTSNU” and others.
On behalf of the organizing committee, conference participants were greeted by D.V. Uzhchenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Scientists, Docent, Prorector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” and A.V. Nikitina, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of Department of Ukrainian Language of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”.

Nyshcheta, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Docent, doctoral student of the Department of Linguistics of Kherson State University (the City of Kherson), N.D. Kovalenko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University (the City of Kamianets-Podilskyi), O.Ye. Klieshchova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Docent of the Department of Ukrainian Language of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (the City of Starobilsk), Alona Manko, 4-year student of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (the City of Starobilsk), Diana Subbotina, 2-year student of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (the City of Starobilsk), Tetiana Hrechyshkina, 4-year student of SI “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (the City of Starobilsk) and others.
Despite the difficult times in our country, conference “Образне слово Луганщини” and edition of the same name collection of scientific articles keep their tradition due to the organizer Nadiia Mykolaivna Karlova, who used to be a pupil of Viktor Uzhchenko and now the Deputy Dean for Socio and Humanitarian Work of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications. This year plenary meeting was conducted via Skype. Conference participants were able to justify the importance of language learning for each person, talk about dialect keepers of Ukrainian language in the West and East Ukraine, share their scientific researches and their own thoughts, impressions, feelings and to speak in support of the invincible spirit of LTSNU. Volodymyr Nyshcheta advised students: “Students must develop themselves as a personality who can effect by word. And this must be done right now during your student years.”
