Ukrainian journalist visited LTSNU

On November 20, a famous Ukrainian journalist visited Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The University hosted a meeting of students of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications with the famous Ukrainian journalist, and how he himself speaks about himself “the unchanging secretary of Vyacheslav Chornovil” Dmytro Ponmarchuk, who came with his old friend Valentyn Tkalich.

The conversation began with Ponamarchuk’s memories of his difficult student years: “I wanted to earn money, study, all at once, and therefore I studied six years in absentia.” He spoke in more detail about his friendly and professional relations with Vyacheslav Chornovil, who, by the way, according to Dmytro Ponmarkhuk, is the “father of Ukrainian national democracy”. They also discussed the well-known book of Chornovil “Woe from Wit”, which at one time caused the arrest of the author.

Then the conversation turned to the actual problems of statehood and independence of Ukraine. Dmytro Ponamarchuk shared with the audience his thoughts on the current government. It turned out that the students were not interested in the future of the country, and therefore tried to raise as many questions as possible. Valentyn Tkalich, who told the story of the founding of the police platoon “Luhansk – 1”, also joined the lively discussion.

Another topic for discussion was the fate of the famous Ukrainian Yuri Konstyantinov who in spite of everything received three higher educations, in the near future will defend a diploma in philosophy and at the same time is the chairman of the military-civil organization of the village of Krymske.

The meeting was interesting and lively, and provocative questions that were heard from the students only supplemented the conversation.
