Independent Expert of British Council in Poltava

Within the framework of the assessment of the work on the British Council’ project “English for Universities” 15-16 November there was a visit of its representatives at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in Poltava, namely the independent expert Simon Borg and the coordinator of the program Janna Sevastianova.
The independent expert of the British Council inspected the results of the participation of LNU in the project.
During the inspection the representatives attended classes of the lecturers and practitioners of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, particularly of the Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation, associative professor Perova S.V., Morozova M.V., Berezan Kh.V.. Thanks to the successful organization of skype-connection the independent expert had the opportunity to observe the classes in all towns of Luhansk Region where the teaching of ESP takes place, mainly the practitioner of the Department of Roman and Germanic Languages Okunkova L.O. conducted the demonstration class in Starobilsk; the practitioner of the Department of Oriental Languages Petrushkova A.M. – in Kreminna and the lecturer of Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Informational Technologies Matiievskyi V.V. – in Rubizhne.
Also Simon Borg had a conversation with the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Shekhavtsova S.O. and the Heads of the Departments concerning the changes that have taken place after the project. Moreover, the independent expert conducted the individual and group interview with the trained lecturers and practitioners and group interview with the students.
Furthermore, it should be mentioned that LUN joined the British Council’ project “English for Universities” in 2016 in the course of which the trained lecturers and practitioners conducted a lot of workshops, trainings, presentations and webinars that were focused on mastering modern methods of teaching ESP and EMI.
