Holiday at the IPP

The Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language was celebrated at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.

November 9, our country celebrates the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. According to the Orthodox calendar, on November 9, the memory of St. Nestor the Chronicler, a follower of Cyril and Methodius, is honored. It is believed that Nestor the Chronicler became the ancestor of Ukrainian writing.

The first-year students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology (speciality “Pre-school Education”) together with the Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Work Vira Pushko visited the municipal institution “Starobilsk Regional Territorial Medical Association” (infectious department) and recited verses to patients and medical personnel written by famous Ukrainian writers about their native language.

They noted that the Ukrainian language is a treasury of the spiritual and cultural heritage of our people. They acquainted the listeners with the fact that in various forms of existence of the Ukrainian language historical memory and experience of the nation, its ideological and moral values are preserved, national traditions and customs are peculiar to this community, and therefore are unique components of national identity. The students also congratulated the children with books in the Ukrainian language and sets of colored pencils.

In addition, on this festive day, the fourth-year students majoring in “Primary Education” participated in the traditional writing of the radio-dictation of national unity. This action in Ukraine is carried out since 2000. Since then, every year all the students of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” and teachers can take part in writing the radio-dictation and not only to find out whether they know Ukrainian well, but also demonstrate unity with everyone who loves and respects Ukrainian word.
