Literary present of the Luhansk region

A presentation of creative works by Oleksii Nezhyvyi and Vasyl Starun was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

On November 7, a meeting of students from various departments of the University with the chairman of the Luhansk regional organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Oleksii Nezhyvyi and the writer of the Luhansk region Vasyl Starun was held at the scientific library of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Both of them are graduates of the Philological Faculty of our University, now talented writers, known not only in the Luhansk region, but also abroad.

Oleksii Nezhyvyi congratulated all those present on the upcoming holiday – the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language, and presented the next edition of his work – the collection “Ziznannia” (Confession). The author noted that the book is his confession of the one he loves and that he values most in literature. Oleksii Nezhyvyi remembered the past: his student years, life and professional path in the Luhansk National University. He did not forget about the future, noting: “I’m sure that our glorious Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications will educate more than one talented writer.”

Vasyl Starun presented his collection of poems “Dvanadtsiat Bram” (The Twelve Gates). He, as the creator of the metaphorical and associative letter, noted that it was in this collection that he first adhered to the classical forms, which are not alien to shrill lyricism and extreme nakedness of feelings. At the same time, the author has preserved and raised the figurativeness to a new level, the ability to penetrate into the deep essence of things. The book contains the image of Ukraine, its dramatic “yesterday” and “today”. The writer read his poems in order to the students understand what is being said. Vasyl Starun was awarded the honorary medal of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine for a significant contribution to the cause of the Ukrainian national revival and selfless work in the vast spiritual assertions of the native words.

The event was held in a friendly atmosphere. After the presentation, the guests gave the library their books and thanked the youth for their attention. And we hope that such meetings will become a good tradition at our University.
