Rectorial Election Goes On

Rectorial election, started at 9:00, continues daylong at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in Starobilsk.

1014 representatives of teaching staff, employees and students of the university take part in the election. 6 election sections were organized – in Starobilsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne (two sections), Shchastia and Kreminna. So, as at 13:00 the major part of election representatives has already visited sections.

We remind that the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has announced a competition to fill the vacancy of rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and set a date of the election – on May 14. Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Serhii Viktorovych Savchenko (Acting Rector of LNU now) stands for the competitive position. Last month rector candidate visited all subdivisions of LNU, met with colleagues and students. During the meetings Serhii Savchenko introduced the main points of his election program (in educational, scientific activity, social and humanitarian field and informational technologies).

Addressing the audience, rector candidate noted: “Despite the difficulties related to forced move to Starobilsk, we all managed to save the university as the full value educational establishment, to provide majority of students with possibility to continue education and obtain diplomas and to give lecturers a hope to return to our native Alma Mater”.
