“Democracy Defenders”

Students and teachers of the ER IPES took part in the workshop “Higher School of Leadership and Research “Democracy Defenders” Vol. 1.0″.

Last week, within the framework of the Providing Dialogues and Civic Engagement project, with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy, a four-day workshop “High School of Leadership and Research “Democracy Defenders” Vol. 1.0″. The event was held by “STAN” Youth Organization, non-governmental organization whose main goal is to develop a creative open civil society through the organization and support of cultural, educational, social and human rights initiatives in communities. The facilitators of the educational program were Olesia Arkhipova and Dmytro Kuznetsov. Liudmyla Afanasieva, Doctor of Sociology, was invited as an expert.

From the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, the event was attended by the head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Human Health Oleg Vinogradov, senior lecturer Olena Guzhva, leader of student government, student majoring in “Human health” Valeria Ryzhkova and student majoring in “Physical Education” Olena Zinova.

During four days, the workshop participants learned about the method of interactive social performances in practice, learned the skills of mapping, conducted a field study of the Kreminna community, systematized and analyzed the results for further implementation. In particular, the problem of the integration of internally displaced persons into the urban space of Kreminna was investigated.

As part of the workshop, the participants visited the Severodonetsk office of the UN Office in Ukraine, where a presentation of social and humanitarian projects was held and the results of work on creating a brand of the Luhansk region “Luhansk region. MY”.

The event was held in a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. All participants received great pleasure, a lot of new theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as effective tools for finding local problems and ways to solve them.
