Луганський національний університет імені Тараса Шевченка

Start of Universiade-2015

Universiade – 2015 has started in Ukraine. The students of IPES of LNU are the active participants of it.

Despite all difficulties of this period the university has managed to create a team in table tennis consisted of Iryna Asieieva, Olena Lymanchenko and Serhii Palieiev. Our tennis players haven’t had comprehensive trainings and game practice. But they had a desire to do their best. There wasn’t one more participant they could take part in all kinds of program (men’s singles and men’s pair).

22 teams took part in the competitions in Ivano-Frankivsk. At first, they played team competition. Our students were fighting with might and main and managed to take the honorary 13th place with 24 points. Next days brought the following results: 13th place – women’s pair (Iryna Asieieva and Olena Lymanchenko), 16th place – women’s singles (Iryna Asieieva).

Team of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University excited great interest at this competition: how has the university in difficult conditions of evacuation managed to delegate a team for competition? This became possible due to selflessness of team participants (they all have a job) and funding of Luhansk Regional Department (branch) of Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the MES of Ukraine.

Iryna Asieieva and Olena Lymanchenko deserve special attention. Ira lives in Sverdlovsk with her grandmother now. She had to go through the territory of Russia to come to Ivano-Frankivsk having spent much time and costs. Olena had to quite her job for participating tournament. After competitions our students said that they were happy to plunge into traditional world of sport and were glad to compete with rivals. Currently they miss real trainings and sport fight.

Our students performed a little sport feat declaring to all sport Ukraine with confidence: Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is alive and ready for new winnings!
