Meeting of the Academic Council

Meeting of the Academic Council was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University where Science Days were considered.

The agenda of Academic Council meeting included several items one of which was about the results of Science Days at the university and All-Ukrainian Student Competitions and Olympiads in 2014-2015. This issue was reported by the Prorector for scientific and pedagogical work Olena Klimochkina. Olena Mykhailivna noted that Science Days were opened at all subdivisions of the university. So, two international, four All-Ukrainian and six regional research and practice conferences were held.

Traditionally the first stage of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers which received about 100 works of young scientists was held at the university as well as the first stage of the International Taras Shevchenko Literature Competition for pupils and students. The best 30 works were submitted to take part in the second stage of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers. Four prize-winners were chosen according to its results. 20 university students became the participants of the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads and one of them took the prize place.

Also Prorector noted that Science Days and scientific work with students at large had some disadvantages. So, due to the difficult conditions of evacuation they haven’t managed to hold the first stage of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works in the following specialties: “Chemistry”, “Biology”, “Ecology”, “Geography”, “Informatics”, “Computer Engineering”, “Tourism”, “Hotel and Restaurant Business”, “Marketing”, “Management”, “Finance and Credit” and “Program Engineering”.

Having heard and discussed the question, the Academic Council approved to analyze the results of scientific work of lecturers and students of all university departments in 2014/2015 academic year and to define actions on its improving.

During the meeting some students and their scientific supervisors were awarded for the achievements in science. (List of awardees).

Scientific Secretary Halyna Shchuka reported on assigning academic titles. According to the results of secret vote the academic title of docent was assigned to Candidate of Science in Social Communications Olha Kutsevska (Department of Journalism and Publishing), Candidate of Engineering Sciences Oleksandr Beseda (Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education) and to Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Oksana Luhantseva (Department of Social Pedagogy).

The scientific issues were discussed among others.
