Participation in the Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory

On May 9 Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory at Starobilsk central square.

Victory Day, without a doubt, is the most important holiday in the history of our nation. This tragic page will be always a terrible wound in our memory.
A memorable May day covered Starobilsk by exciting and at the same time enthusiastic atmosphere. This fact confirms the inviolability of the sacred tradition of current generation to honor the memory and the great feat of our grandfathers and great grandfathers.
Viewers were impressed by mass character and good organization of the holiday. Under loud applause citizens greeted the heroes of our Motherland – veterans of World War II. In honor of the defenders the young generation prepared the emotional and sensitive performances, resuming wartime memories and emphasizing the importance of veterans.
Boys and girls were dancing light school Waltz, depicting the heartbreaking moment of memory dedicated to every mother who lost her sons in the war. The ceremonial part was brighten by children from all districts marching on the central square under the national flag of the country. During the final part of celebration they set the words in big letters “The Great Victory – 70” that increased and emphasized the importance of this event for the current generation and showed a lot of respect of contemporaries to historical past. Children congratulated veterans with flowers and warm words of gratitude.
“I felt great pride for our Motherland when I saw and realized preparation of our youth to the holiday of May 9. Tears were in my eyes when I imagined the pictures of terrible past that our countrymen had gone through,” – LNU student Yevhen Prokhorov expressed his thoughts about celebration.
At the end of the ceremony there was a march to the Memorial of Glory where the representatives of Starobilsk District City Administration, law enforcement officials and students of LNU, pupils of district schools as well as city residents laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and honored memory of the death by a minute of silence.
