Day of the Defender of Ukraine

The University solemnly celebrated the Day of the Defender of Ukraine.

The ancient feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, which was revered by our Cossack ancestors, today acquired a new, colorful and important meaning in modern realities. Now, the Day of the Defender of Ukraine symbolizes the inextricable link of all generations of Ukrainian soldiers, fighters for the freedom and independence of our state.

For our University this holiday is extremely significant, and traditionally on this day in our institution, there are celebrations with the participation of representatives of the public and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the eve of the celebration, honored guests visited Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. They were the members of the Presidium of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. Today they attended solemn events dedicated to the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Protection of the Holy Virgin. On the porch, the guests were met by university professors and students, who invited scientists hospitably to a festive fair.

The students amazed with their acting abilities, invited to the table and showed respect and benevolence. Everyone had the opportunity to meet with friends, share their impressions and taste delicious dishes.

Continuation of the holiday was the dedication of students to the Ukrainian Cossacks. The event was attended by the military men and the delegation of the Academy of Cossacks of the Luhansk region.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo and the President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen addressed the audience. They congratulated our defenders, remembered the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks and wished peace for the whole of Ukraine.

For a significant contribution to the development of national education, many years of fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity and the training of qualified specialists, the K.D. Ushinsky medal was awarded to the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of LTSNU Oleksandr Babichev. For a significant contribution to the national-patriotic education of the youth, as well as the ministry to our Fatherland, Vasyl Kremen presented the medal “Hryhorii Skovoroda” to D.V. Kryvobok, the commander of the detachment of the special purpose regiment.

The culmination of the holiday was the ritual of dedication of students to the Cossacks and taking the oath. The Supreme Ataman of the Cossack Academy, the Field Hetman in the ATO zone V.M. Tkachenko addressed all those present. He spoke about the traditions of the Cossacks and urged to unite for the sake of the development of the country.

The Hetman also awarded the Order for the Development of Ukraine to members of the Presidium of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, presented the award “For Merit” to Oleksandr Meniailenko, Dmytro Uzhchenko, and also awarded N.Yu. Matsai.

After the solemn speeches, the youth proclaimed the oath and swore to be faithful to the state and the Ukrainian people. The creative and freedom-loving spirit of our ancestors united the students and became the personification of the strength of the nation.

On the eve of the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, young people and teachers of our University prepared gifts that were solemnly presented to the servicemen with the wish of the unshakable will in overcoming difficulties, family happiness and good health.

And the military men demonstrated performances in which students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part.

The holiday ended with creative performances of students of our University, which aroused the delight of all those present.
