Recently, teachers and management of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences organized an unusual educational event for students.
An experimental quest-lecture “Makhno’s Capital” was organized for the first-year students of the Institute. During the event, young historians visited the ancient sites of Starobilsk, connected with the life of the outstanding rebel leader Nestor Makhno, who was in the city in the autumn of 1921. Among the places were visited the central city square; old house at 47 Gimnazychna Street, where the chieftain lived; hydropathic, embankment of the river Aydar.
Lecture accompaniment of the quest was provided by Doctor of Historical Sciences N. Naboka, Head of the Department of the Ukrainian History, who made an informative excursion into the history of Starobilsk and the Makhno’s insurgent movement.
The event ended on the banks of the Aidar River, where field kulesh, “Makhno’s soup,” was cooked for students. The leadership of Institute hopes to make such educational walks regular.
