28.9.2018
The planned meeting of the Academic Council took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Two main issues were discussed on the agenda:
- results of the work of the examination (qualification) commissions in the academic year 2017-2018 and features of the organization of educational activities in the academic year 2018 -2019;
- readiness of the University to work in the autumn-winter period.
Valentyna Lesnova made a report on the results of the examination (qualification) commissions in the academic year 2017 – 2018 and features of the organization of educational activities in the academic year 2018 – 2019.
Having heard and discussed the report of the acting head of the Educational Department, the Academic Council noted that in accordance with the schedule of the educational process in the academic year 2017-2018, the winter and summer final attestations of graduates were held.
Directors of educational and research institutes and deans of faculties withstood the requirements for the design of the necessary documentation for the final certification of graduates and prepared packages of documents for the production of diplomas on time. Diplomas were given to 2212 graduates of full-time, part-time and external forms of education of various educational degrees and educational and qualification levels: junior specialist – 509, bachelor – 740, specialist – 42, master – 921. 144 students received diplomas with honors.
In order to organize educational activities in the 2018 – 2019 academic year effectively, significant work was carried out. In connection with the adoption of standards and the introduction of the concept of New Ukrainian School, changes were made in the plans of individual specialties. The structural-logical schemes of plans of more than ten specialties have been optimized.
A characteristic feature of the educational process in the academic year 2018 – 2019 is the use of e-learning tools for methodical and organizational provision of training for full-time students and the use of active teaching methods: organization of independent study of disciplines with the help of information bases of knowledge, introduction of group and teamwork, participation in discussions, etc. Work will continue on the formation of digital competencies among university professors.
However, in the organization of the educational process there are unsolved problems: in connection with the alleged repair of one of the educational buildings, it is impossible to form a stable schedule of the educational process, individual departments do not use the active methods of interaction between teachers and students.

After hearing and discussing the report of the Vice-Rector for Administrative and Economic Work, the Academic Council noted that the University is carrying out significant work to prepare the university for work in the autumn-winter period of the academic year 2018 – 2019.
Due to participation in the program of the State Regional Development Fund this year the University has already started the implementation of three major projects: repair of the educational building, which is one of the oldest buildings in Starobilsk; repair of a hostel in the city of Rubizhne; reconstruction of a part of the building for the accommodation of a hostel for students in the premises purchased by the University.
Also, during the implementation of last year’s projects of the SFRD the University will complete the insulation of the facade of the educational building No. 6.
