“Olympic lesson”

The ER IPES took part in the sports event “Olympic lesson”, which took place in the front city of Popasna.

The event was held in the sports complex of the Regional Children’s and Youth Sports School with the participation of the Luhansk regional branch of the NOC of Ukraine, Luhansk regional branch of the Olympic Academy and the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of LTSNU. The event “Olympic lesson” was held for young schoolchildren of the Popasna district within the framework of the project “Olympic Week in Luhansk”.

The small participants of the lesson were congratulated by the chairman of the regional branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Viktor Ostretsov; the bronze medalist in cycling of the XXVII Summer Olympic Games in Sydney Iryna Yanovych; the graduate of the Kharkiv National Polytechnic University, multiple world champion in powerlifting, bronze medalist of the 2017 World Games, honorary citizen of Popasna Dmytro Semenenko; chairman of the regional department of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine, head of the Sports Disciplines Department Serhii Halii; deputy head of the LRD of the committee for physical education and sports of the MES of Ukraine Andrii Gozhedrianov.

Within the framework of the event, the children took part in the warm-up with the Olympian, the quiz of the experts of the Olympic movement, showed their sports opportunities and achievements. All future Olympians received gifts from the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

In addition, guests of the event visited sport facilities of the city comprehensive schools No. 1 and No. 21, which suffered from the aggression of Russian invaders, and now are actively recovering.
