Meeting of the Academic Council

A regular meeting of the Academic Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was held, several questions were considered during it.

During the meeting the Academic Council considered the question about technical support of the educational process at the university reported by the Prorector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Professor Oleksandr Meniailenko. The Prorector noted that the engineering and technical support and maintenance of the educational process at the university is especially important when the educational establishment is evacuated.  This has led to the loss of about 100% of computer and multimedia classes, server equipment and so on. Such situation has significantly complicated engineering and technical support of the educational process. But the Center for Informational Technologies always provides engineering and technical support of all processes related to education at the university. So, all departments have access to the system of Common State Base of Education, whose users have electronic keys, there is their training and technical assistance when necessary. There was training of the system administrator on preparing the European Diploma Supplements. The engineers of the Center for Informational Technologies perform number of works on preparing order and printing diplomas for the university graduates (they printed diplomas for winter graduates according to the schedule and ceremonially presented them). Now they work on preparing the order and printing diplomas for the summer graduates.

The Center for Informational Technologies developed “Recommended Practices for Creating Educational Software (educational computer programs and electronic textbooks)”, resumed work of email mail@luguniv.edu.ua and the university repository, support online examinations and developed “Regulations on Holding Examinations Online”. Also, the engineering and technical support of the website of remote education of the university is performed jointly with system administrators and methodologists of moodle platform.

Besides, the Center of Informational Technologies works on creating “virtual university” in the Ukrainian cyberspace segment, on the base of which they develop their own platform E-learning, computer tests on the base of client/server technology and so on. More than 100 computer tests for state and entrance examinations are prepared.

But the engineering and technical support of the university education activity has some objective and subjective difficulties, among which the insufficient number of computer equipment, dedicated computer classes and laboratories; there is a loss of almost 75% of highly skilled staff of the Center for Informational Technologies and those employees who stay at the university are not provided enough with computer equipment, tools and other technologies; insufficient motivation of academic workers for implementing and using informational technologies at the educational process of the university.

Having heard and discussed the question, the Academic Council approved to perform step-by-step change on using resumed university email and change all official papers with links to it. Also, to continue works on development and expansion of university computer network on the base of fiber-optic technologies and so on.

Academic Secretary Halyna Shchuka reported on assigning academic titles. So, according to the results of secret voting, the academic title of docent of the Department of Psychology was assigned to the Candidate of Psychological Sciences Tetiana Pashko, docent of the Department of Psychology – the Candidate of Economic Sciences Zoia Shylnikova.

Research work questions were considered among others.
