Again to “Olvia”

Students of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences went to the archaeological expedition.

July 17, 2018 on the square near one of the corps of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University a solemn and non-trivial event was held. After a three-year break caused by the tragic events in the Donbas and thanks to the efforts of indifferent graduates, university management, teachers and students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, the annual archaeological expedition, traditionally held at the National Historical and Archaeological Museum “Olvia”.

Like many years ago, students-historians again have the opportunity to study one of the oldest historical monuments – the ancient Greek colony of Olvia, which appeared in the 7th century BC and existed until the first century AD. In addition, Olvia is a well-established tradition of student life, romance of hikes, singing songs near the night fire. The current “Olvia-2018” is a jubilee, since 50 years have passed since the birth of the Olvian movement.

While escorting archaeological students, the Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii Savchenko, the Director of the IHIRSPS A.V. Bader, the head of the expedition, the head of the Department of the History of Ukraine A.V. Naboka delivered a solemn speech. It is interesting that the atmosphere at the event was permeated with the unique romance of the archaeological field expedition.
