Regional Powerlifting Championship

Powerlifting Championship of Luhansk region took place on the sports basis of the ER IPES of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The sports basis of the IPES has become home for the regional powerlifting federation. The regional competitions take place here not for the first time.

But the ​​Classic Powerlifting Championship among men and women dedicated to the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Day of Europe in Ukraine, which was held in the assembly hall of the institute several days ago, has a special character. Finally, the oblast federation appeared its face – the banner, which was first offered to court athletes and spectators at this championship. The long-term expectations of fans of powerlifting in the Luhansk region came true. Sportsmen received a “screensaver”, on the background of which it is more enjoyable to raise the bar, and the photos now have a more respectable look.

The Powerlifting Federation of the region expresses its sincere thanks for this small holiday to the head of the Supervisory Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Semenovych Kurylo. Thanks to such indifferent people as Vitalii Semenovych, physical culture and sports become the most favorite thing not only for university students, but also for the youth of the whole region. We are convinced that such assistance will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of both powerlifting in particular and sports in general, in the educational institution and in the region. Thank you for your help and support!

77 athletes from seven cities of the regional center including Rubizhne, Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Popasne, Starobilsk, Kreminna and Petropavlivka (Stanichno-Luhansk district) – took part in the competitions. The judiciary was organized and conducted by the students and teaching staff of the ER IPES. The festive atmosphere contributed to the fact that a number of decent results for such a scale had been shown. Four athletes fulfilled the standard of master of sports of Ukraine, sixteen sportsmen – the norm of the candidate for the master of sports, forty four athletes – adult grades in their weight categories.

Separately it should be highlighted achievements of the master of sports of Ukraine Vitalii Bilozir. In the weight category up to 74 kg in the sum of the triathlon, he collected 642.5 kg, thus for the first time fulfilling the standard of the master of sports of Ukraine of international class.

The winners and prizewinners of the competition were awarded with medals and certificates of the Management of Youth and Sports of the Regional Administration, team-prizewinners were awarded by the FST “Spartak”. The best three powerlifters among women and men in the Wilkes formula were awarded with memorable prizes by the LOV Committee for Physical Education at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Special thanks to the Assist Brigade, which was compiled from the students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports.  The assistance on the platform during the competitions is the most complicated and difficult. The boys including the record holder of the region, the CMSU on powerlifting Vladislav Bondarenko, the Ukrainian heavyweights champion Vitalii Sergeev, Ilya Voloshin (first adult category in powerlifting), Dmytro Shevchenko (first adult category in weightlifting), MSU in weightlifting Oleksii Shkursky did their job perfectly well.
