Vyshyvanka for babies

The collective of LTSNU presented babies in the Starobilsk maternity ward with embroidered shirts.

For every Ukrainian, Vyshyvanka is not just a beautiful shirt, but also a guard from the evil eye. Our ancestors also believed in the strength of the embroidered shirt. It has long been customary that in every symbol embroidered in vyshyvanka, the masters put in what desire – either prosperity and well-being, or love and coziness, or health and happiness. Vyshyvanka became for children a guardian, a symbol of happiness, ancestral memory and health.

On May 17, students and teachers of our University presented newborns with their first embroidered vibes.

“This day has become a good tradition, when the staff of the University comes to the hospital and presents embroidered shirts to our future generation,” – Olena Kovpak, Director of the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College said. She added: “Let them become a real amulet for your kids.”

Parents of the kids were pleasantly surprised by this initiative and gladly accepted the national clothes from the teachers.

“We are sincerely grateful to the staff of the University for the fact that today our daughter received as a gift her first vyshyvanka. I think that when we leave the maternity ward, we will put vyshyvanka on our baby,” – the mother of the newborn said.

“Thanks to the collective of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University for the embroidered shirts given to the children. It’s really a very good tradition, it’s nice for the parents who receive them, and I think that when the kids grow up they will be proud of the fact that your staff from Luhansk Taras Shevchenko University presented them with embroidered shirts,” –  the head doctor of Starobilsk  maternity ward Viacheslav Bykov said.

Students and lecturers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University wish the newborns good health and happiness, and their parents – family well-being. Let the embroidered shirts presented to children become for them a guard for life!
