Visit of the delegation

On May 16, LTSNU hosted representatives of the Zhytomyr region in accordance with the project “Review of the best practices of cooperation between government, business and CSOs in the implementation of development projects by the communities of the East of Ukraine”.

Thanks to cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University permanently maintains close ties with representatives of government, business and CSOs of various regions of Ukraine. The purpose of the visit of representatives of the Zhytomyr region was to get acquainted with the results of LNU work on projects that are aimed at local development, with technologies for attracting resources and implementing projects for the development of society and ensuring the sustainability of their results, with examples of successful cooperation of public organizations and initiative groups formed at the university, with representatives of business and local authorities in the implementation of such projects.

During the visit, the representatives of the delegation acquainted with the work of the Resource Center for Sustainable Local Development, functioning on the basis of the University with the support of UNDP, the results of the work of public organizations (NGO “Agency for Educational Initiatives”) and initiative groups (IG “Prosvita”); directions of university cooperation with international organizations, foundations and embassies were outlined; a tour of the university library, a museum and a park.

The interest of visitors was caused by the information about the discussion clubs of the European Union, which were held within the framework of the information project “EU selection of Ukrainian youth”; the project “Cinema in the open air” (the organization of film screenings for the society of Starobilsk city) participation in the local development forums of the Luhansk region, in the development of the Luhansk Oblast 2020 Development Strategy, which allows the university to attract international financial assistance for the development of the socio-cultural sphere in particular.

The delegation visited by the only Information Resource Center “Window on America” on the territory of the Luhansk region, which was opened with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine (https://www.facebook.com/starobilskwoa/). In 2017, the existing base of the Center was modernized, in particular, an interactive Smartboard was installed – a product of SMART, which operates on the basis of the latest tangent DViT technology, and a 3-d printer was installed.

As a result of the visit, we can talk about establishing a partnership between two regions on the principles of social cohesion and reconciliation, security, the rule of law in the context of the conflict in the East of Ukraine, and the establishment of partnerships with the active participation of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
