“Native Home Decorated with Vyshyvanka”
17.5.2018
The contest “Native Home Decorated with Vyshyvanka” was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
The genetic code of the Ukrainian nation, which for many centuries epitomizes our people, today is a real decoration and a symbol of the ethnic belonging of each of us to our native land and our history. The All-Ukrainian action “Vyshyvanka Day”, which was founded by Lesia Voroniuk in 2007, became today a national holiday, an opportunity to once again recall the uniqueness and charm of embroidered clothes.
Traditionally, Vyshyvanka Day is celebrated at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, whose lecturers and students especially understand the need to preserve national traditions and customs, and their role in shaping the future of Ukraine.
A festive day in our institution started with the contest “Native Home decorated with Vyshyvanka”, where residents of hostels took part. In the morning, restless youth began preparing for the event, because the necessary condition for participation was a room decorated in a traditional Ukrainian style.
Thanks to the diligence of students, the university building soon began to stand out prominently among others, as towels appeared on the windows of the hostel, as a symbol of hospitality and goodwill.
The competent jury, which included teachers and staff of LTSNU, evaluated the work of young people. The participants greeted guests with bread and salt, interestingly presented their own dwelling and shared a festive mood.
After summing up the results, the jury determined the winners. In the nomination “The best student room of the 4th floor”, students from 421 rooms won the victory. On the fifth floor, the best was the room No. 514. In the third dormitory, the ninth room was recognized as the best.
During the gala concert, the winners of the contest were awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts, which were provided by the Primary Trade Union Organization of LTSNU.
