Today Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University presented embroidered shirts of Luhansk region.
On May 17, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University hosted a country-wide event for the traditional university competition among teachers, students and employees “VYSHYVANKA WITH YOUR OWN HANDS”, dedicated to the 12th anniversary of the All-Ukrainian Vyshyvanka Day. The aim of the contest is to preserve and use vyshyvanka as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, popularization of traditional decorative and applied arts.
Each region of Ukraine can boast of its unique embroidered shirts. They differ in style, color, embroidery, ornaments and patterns.
Today Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University presented embroidered shirts of Luhansk region. This year, the winners of the contest in the nomination “The Best Women’s Author’s Embroidery” were awarded with the university diplomas and valuable gifts from the Primary Trade Union Organization.
The first place was taken by the new collective work by native sisters – Svitlana Negodiaieva, Assistant Professor of the Ukrainian Literature Department of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications, and Tetiana Chepurko, Deputy Director for the Educational Work of the Milovatska School of the I-III levels of the Svatovo district.
According to the authors, knitting, beading, embroidery, and icon painting are not a tribute to fashion, it is a call of the soul, because they never create their works with bad thoughts or a “heavy” heart. “In the photo I’m wearing vyshyvanka, made mainly by the hands of my sister, I hold the Earth in my palms and flowers,” – Svitlana Negodiaieva tells.
The II place was taken by the family vyshyvanka of Anna Piven, the 2nd year student majoring in “Special Education. Speech Therapy. Special Psychology “of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.
The III place was taken by the hereditary vyshyvanka of Yelyzaveta Zagorodnia, the 1st year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)” of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications.
We respect and love our vyshyvanka, we dress it for holidays and celebrations, we embroider it ourselves for our native people and we celebrate together with the whole country the Day of Vyshyvanka – the sincere soul of our great people.
