15.5.2018
Students-philologists visited Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University.
On May 7 – 11, the second-year students of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications, as well as the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, crossed the whole Ukraine, from the northeast to the northwest and visited Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University.
Five days of stay in Volyn were very busy.
We visited the University Museum of Lesya Ukrainka and the unique Museum of the Volyn Icon. We listened to an open lecture by the well-known dialectologist Professor Hryhorii Arkushin “Study of the West-Polian dialect”. We visited the presentation of a multimedia map of the West-Polis dialect (project of Professor Hryhorii Arkushin and graduate of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism, Master of Philology Iryna Druzhuk). We watched the literary and musical impreza “Over the banks of the eternal river” based on Lina Kostenko’s lyrics and an excerpt from the play “The Dark Room” (based on contemporary French drama) performed by the student francophone theater studio “Expression”. We visited the Kolodyazhnensky Literary and Memorial Museum of Lesya Ukrainka. We met with the poet, the author of his own songs, the volunteer Mykola Bilshevich, thanks to him we visited the Lutsk legend – the famous sculptor Mykola Golovan, where we talked with the hospitable host and his most interesting friends. We took part in a talk show by Sofia Gudich “Media fake: to be or not to be?”, where we exposed myths about the Donbas and destroyed stereotypes of perception of Luhansk region in Volyn.
On May 10, the Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and General Linguistics Valentina Lesnova introduced the Luhansk Dialectological School to Lutsk students and teachers, and students under the guidance of the Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature Svetlana Negodiaieva read a multimedia lecture “The Literary Map of Luhansk Region”. The lecture made a strong impression on listeners, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism Yuri Gromik, thanks to whom this trip took place, even defined its genre: “Today’s multimedia lecture has become a strong emotional and intellectual shock. We once again convinced that the Ukrainians – a nation of light, majestic and strong in spirit people. Thanks to our Luhansk friends for the lecture-shock! We wish sincerely not only the day but also the peace begin from their land in Ukraine.”
We sincerely thank Volhynian friends for their communication and inspiration and look forward to further meetings.
