Meeting with special services officers
20.4.2018
Students of LTSNU met with special services officers, who provide national security in the Eastern Ukrainian region.
In 2018, Ukraine marks the 73rd anniversary of the victory over Nazism in the Second World War. The peace, found in those distant times, seems to have been established forever. But, unfortunately, today in the east of Ukraine the flame of war flares up again, explosions are thundering, peaceful people are dying.
On April 18, the students of three structural subdivisions of our University met with the officers of the Starobilsk Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Luhansk region.
The meeting was attended by students of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism; the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications and the Educational and Research Institute of Economy and Business.
The topic of the conversation concerned the activities of the special services to ensure national security and defense in the Eastern Ukrainian region in the context of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and to repel and deter information impact on young people who live on territories temporarily uncontrolled in Ukraine.
In connection with warming in spring and summer, more and more young people take walks in the forest, relax in the park and attend entertaining mass events. Special attention of the students was drawn to the danger that can lie in wait for nature tours and recreation in crowded places. The students received basic advice on how not to become a victim of terrorism and what action should be taken to ensure safe rest. Despite the maximum measures taken by the special services to counter terrorism, one should remember about their own security and timely report suspicious objects and persons who cause suspicion by their behavior and actions.
A lively conversation aroused a number of questions that concerned their own security, the protection of their data in the Internet space, information terrorism, actions and appeals in case of detection of danger and the like.
At the end of the event, Mykhailo Chumak, Deputy Director of the ICSTT, addressed the officers of the Security Service with words of gratitude. He stressed the importance of the work of special services aimed at maintaining peace in our cities and returning the Ukrainian authorities and law to the entire territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Every year in the beginning of spring, we remember the events of the Second World War. The Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation reminds us once again that historical memory is the most important component of society’s self-identification. And the historical past as a type of memory has a special significance for the formation and integration of society in the present.
In the history of our country, there are significant dates that make everyone stop for a moment, stop. Stop before the memory. The past events come to life in our memory to protect, warn and never come back again.
