Students of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism learned about the technology of 3D printing.
The Department of Press, Education and Culture of the US Embassy in Kyiv supports a number of information centers in various regions of Ukraine. The network includes 27 centers “Window on America” in various regions of Ukraine. Such a center successfully operates in the Luhansk region, which is located on the basis of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
One of the projects supported by the US Embassy is the young people’s acquaintance with modern technologies. Thanks to this, with the support of the International Department of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, a 3D printer, 3D-pens and several designers appeared in the center “Window on America”.
From April 12, the Head of the Department of Production and Professional Education Technologies of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism Viktor Burdun and Head of the Department of Educational Laboratories and Computer Classes Yevgen Volodymyrovych Kondratenko told the second-year students majoring in “Professional Education. Transport” and “Secondary Education. Labor Training and Technology” about the technology of 3D printing.
Students learned about the design features of a 3D printer, its technical characteristics, the principle of operation, the scope of 3D printers. Also they tried to prepare a model for printing and watched the printer printed it.
Then the students got acquainted with the 3D handles of the fifth generation, and tried to print a bicycle model.
Students liked the technology of printing on a 3D printer and the reproduction of various crafts using 3D-pens. We hope that familiarity with 3D printing technology will inspire students to further research in this direction, and the knowledge acquired by them will contribute to their professional growth.
