The University Administration meeting

A scheduled meeting of the University Administration took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Two main issues were discussed on the agenda:

• about the implementation of the decisions of the University Administration and prospects for the development of the Faculty of Natural Sciences;
• about the work of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the University for the protection of rights and freedoms of teachers and students.

Natalia Matsai made a report on the implementation of the decisions of the University Administratin and prospects for the development of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Having heard and discussed the report of the Dean, the University Administration noted that over the last year the faculty’s activity was aimed at increasing the number of students and the implementation of promising areas of development determined by the decision of the Administration on April 10, 2017.

In order to form a full-fledged contingent of academic groups at the Faculty, a plan was developed for additional vocational guidance activities of the departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences for April-June 2017. The result of the implementation of this plan was an increase in the student intake at the Faculty. With the purpose of activating the research work of faculty teachers in the medical and biological fields, as well as providing educational work on biological and medical disciplines, the Faculty began the work on organizing a university laboratory of medical and biological problems. To attract grant funds for the organization of the laboratory, the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics, Chemistry and Biochemistry prepared the project “Healthy Man – Healthy Society”, which successfully passed the first stage of selection under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Restoration of the expositions of the geological museum was started. At the same time, the University Administration noted problematic issues in the work of the Faculty, including insufficient material and technical support for the educational process and the need to restore the educational and scientific expositions of the zoological museum.

Volodymyr Moroz made a report on the work of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the University on protecting the rights and freedoms of teachers and students. After hearing the report of the chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization, the University Administration took note of the information.

Over the past three years, the work of the Trade Union Organization has been aimed at protecting the economic and labor rights of trade union members, maintaining and expanding the list of social services, representation of trade union members in government bodies and the University Administration. Priority issues were improvement, provision of material and other types of assistance, organization of cultural and sports events, as well as improvement of material and technical support.
