Winner of the Open Championship

The team of IPES is the winner of the Open City Basketball Championship among the student teams in the city of Severodonetsk.

The team consists of V. Kurylenko (IV, FV), V. Kondratenko (II, Sport), S. Potemkin (magistracy, ZL), A. Ukraintsev (II, SO.FC), Y. Stepaniuk (II, SO.F.), O. Shestak (ІІІ, FV), O. Bazalei, (II, SO.FK), I. Orlov (ІV, SO.FC).

Eight teams took part in the competitions: Severodonetsk Chemical and Mechanical College, Higher Professional School No. 92, Severodonetsk Higher Professional School, Severodonetsk Professional Lyceum, Severodonetsk Professional Building Lyceum, the East Ukrainian Volodymyr Dahl National University, Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 3, Institute of Physical Education and Sports of LTSNU (the city of Kreminna).

The championship was held on a circular system in seven rounds.

By the will of the lot, the calendar of games was drawn up so that the winner and prizewinners of the competitions were on the last game day. It should be said that almost all the teams had one or two performers in their composition who could decide the fate of a match. Many of them studied or studied in city sports schools in the departments of basketball.

The matches against the teams of the Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 3, Severodonetsk Chemical and Mechanical College and East Ukrainian Volodymyr Dahl National University were very difficult. Especially tense was the fight with the last two teams (which eventually became the winners of the championship). In the first quarters, rivals took turns and kept spectators in suspense. But before the break our guys confidently took the game into their own hands and did not give it to the final whistle.

Among the best players in our team should be noted Vladislav Kurylenko, Vitalii Kondratenko, Serhii Potemkin, who participated only in the final games, but brought great benefits to the team.

The team of the Institute received the Cup of the winner of the championship, and all the players were awarded with certificates of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Severodonetsk City Council.
