“The Pharaohs”

The play “The Pharaohs” was held at the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

A warm April evening was especially memorable for the staff of our University. After a long preparation in the walls of the educational institution, the long-awaited premiere – the play “The Pharaohs” was held. The executors of the roles were teachers and staff of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, each of whom demonstrated outstanding creative abilities and actor’s talent.

The main director and literary editor of the play was the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro Uzhchenko. According to him, similar events were previously traditional at the University, but the format of the “The Pharaohs” is somewhat different. “The play was written by A. Kolomiets in simple folk language. That is why we chose this work, because it is easily perceived by the audience,” – the Vice-Rector emphasized.

The preparation for the premiere was rather long and tense. “Rehearsals had to be held after class, when the teachers had free time,” – the director of the performance O.P. Mironova told. Each teacher made significant efforts to get used to the role and recreate on the stage the image that the author described in the play.

The play “The Pharaohs” tells about the life of ordinary people in the Ukrainian village. The eternal confrontation between men and women finds its new expression. So, after a loud feast, the owners, who occupied executive positions in their village, suddenly found themselves in the place of their wives, and fully felt the bitterness of women’s fate.

The author of the play A. Kolomiets underlined the painful problems of his time, which still do not lose their relevance. The play is deeply imbued with symbolism; it breaks stereotypes, allows the viewer to change the value points and become more sensitive to other people’s problems.

The skillful actor’s game of teachers did not leave, probably, no one indifferent. The appearance of each new actor on stage was perceived by the audience with a storm of applause. After the performance, the performers were given flowers and grateful smiles.
