The University Administration meeting

A scheduled meeting of the University Administration took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The agenda included the issue of the implementation of the University Administration decisions and prospects for the development of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports. Yuri Polulyashchenko made a report. Having heard and discussed the report of the Director of the Educational and Research Institute, the University Administration noted that the institute directorate took measures to implement the decision of the University Administration on March 13, 2017.

With the aim of forming a contingent of students, the teachers and staff of the Institute took part in career  guidance activities: multimedia presentations of the departments were created; cooperation with the Donetsk Higher School of the Olympic Reserve named after Serhii Bubka; Lysychansk and Artemivsk Pedagogical Colleges, medical schools (Starobilsk, Kreminna, Lysychansk, Bakhmut, Konstyantynivka), Luhansk regional lyceum-boarding school for physical culture and sports, comprehensive schools and the Kreminna Rehabilitation Center.

According to the decree of the University Administration, the individual career guidance work was organized with the gifted young people of the Luhansk region in order to attract them to study at the Institute. Thanks to this in 2017, the Institute received 5 champions and 11 prize-winners of the Ukrainian Championships in various sports, which are members and candidates for the national teams of the country.

In 2017, the students of the structural subdivision won five medals of different denominations at the World Universiade in Taipei. The master students O. Bychkov and M. Barannik became the winners and record holders of the World Powerlifting Championships; the third-year students A. Politaev (Greco-Roman wrestling), Ye.Yudenkov, Ye. Yermakov (gymnastics), B.Buryachek (weightlifting) are participants of the European and World Championships.

The master student O. Bychkov and the teacher of the Department of Sports Disciplines D. Semenenko were awarded with the honorary titles of Merited Masters of Sports of Ukraine; the teacher of the Olympic and Professional Sports Department established the record of Ukraine and the world on power extreme.

Teachers of the Institute participated in 30 international and all-Ukrainian conferences. The Institute hosted three conferences of international, All-Ukrainian and regional level.

In social and humanitarian work with students, the directorate and the student council pay special attention to national-patriotic upbringing. For this purpose, regular meetings with law enforcement officers, ATO participants, servicemen of the Armed Forces, employees of the State Administration of Emergency Situations are held. Students take part in regional and city events dedicated to public holidays.

At the same time, the University Administration noted unresolved and problematic issues in the work of the Institute. Among them were insufficient level of student attendance and a narrow focus of the work of student self-government.
