International Mother Language Day

The Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications marked the International Mother Language Day.

On February 21, the International Mother Language Day is marked. This holiday is important, because language is the greatest asset of any people.

We did not ignore the day of our native language at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications arranged festive gatherings for which the true fans of the native Ukrainian language gathered.

The youth prepared humoresks and short theatrical performances. Students of the LTSNU College presented poems of their teacher Natalia Klimenko. She says: “I am inspired by the language. It is happiness – to be able to enjoy a colorful range of sounds, to create a unique melody, which becomes a source of poetic perception of reality. “

And they did not stop there. The head of the Department of Ukrainian History Oleksandr Naboka tried to translate the Transcarpathian dialect, having read the poem of the Uzhgorod poet Pavlo Chuchka.

Meanwhile, the organizers of the event Valentina Lesnova, Marina Voloshinova and Svitlana Negodaiaeva prepared a quiz for knowledge of their native language and held a competition for writing a poem, or a work in which each word would begin with the same letter. The winners in this competition were young participants – college students. The organizers gave them a book with a proposal to start a flashmob “We read Ukrainian”.

We hope that such gatherings will become a good faculty tradition.
