Heroes are not born …

The Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications hosted an event commemorating the memory of Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

For its history of the struggle for freedom and independence, Ukraine has repeatedly been oppressed, but each time it rose from its knees. Unfortunately, today Ukraine is going through the thorns. Over the past four years, we have become contemporaries of yet another mass tragedy of our country – the war for independence and territorial integrity of the state.

Today, the students of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications recalled the names of those who in the forefront stood up for its defense, the names of the dead participants of EuroMaidan – protests in December 2013 – February 2014.

The event was dedicated to the memory of peaceful protesters against the arbitrariness of the authorities of that time who died in the Maidan during the fighting. It took place in the center of Kyiv on February 18-20, 2014 on the Institute Street, Grushevsky Street, European Square, Independence Square, and Mariinsky Park.

In those days, more than 100 people were killed. Later the Ukrainian people crowned them as Heavenly Hundred. Among them – students, teachers, scientists, artists, architects, theater directors, public activists. Unfortunately, the information is not about every deceased hero.

Students of LTSNU could not help but recall the names of those who adequately continued the work of the Heavenly Hundred, the names of our fellow countrymen who were killed in the tragic days of confrontations and the war of our state for independence and territorial integrity.

The immortal souls of the dead and tortured left for heaven, but they will always live in the people’s memory, because heroes are not born but become, because the heroes do not die!
