Information campaign

The Faculty of Natural Sciences held an information campaign dedicated to the World Cancer Day.

The World Cancer Day is marked on February 4. The main goal of this day is to remind the society of the existence of such a global problem as oncological diseases, draw attention to it, recall how widespread and dangerous cancer is and what needs to be done to prevent this disease.

In Ukraine, the World Cancer Day is widely marked: in educational and preventive institutions of the country, explanatory work is carried out for the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer, events for which leading oncologists are invited to conduct a survey of the population, and relevant information literature is distributed.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences of LTSNU also did not stay aside of this problem. The students majoring in “Technologies of medical diagnostics and treatment” under the supervision of the head of the Department Vyacheslav Stepanenko and the senior lecturer of the Department Iryna Novoskoltseva organized an introductory event dedicated to this day.

The event was opened by the Vice-Rector Oleksandr Meniailenko. He noted that most people, when hearing this terrible diagnosis, lose faith and “give up”, but we must remember that cancer is not a sentence, and its timely diagnosis makes it possible to overcome this ailment with a high probability.

Olesya Virchenko, a 3rd-year student majoring in “Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Technologies”, provided information on the causes of cancer and prevention of this disease. At the end of the event, students distributed symbols of the fight against oncological diseases – lavender bands and booklets with a calendar of preventive measures.

We call for no one to remain indifferent to the problems of cancer. However, the main goal of our event is that people do not stand aside this problem not only on this day, but throughout the year.
