The updated Ranking Web of World Universities was published

Webometrics has published an updated ranking of world universities in terms of their level of presence in the network.
The next Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in January 2018 included 11998 universities of the world. According to it, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took the 5192nd place in the world rating. Among 327 Ukrainian universities, our University came out on the 31st place. Among the higher educational institutions of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University occupies the 391st position, and in the European ranking, we got the 1,420th place. In addition, in the continental ranking, our University took the 3297th place.
Recall that Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is one of the most famous rankings of universities in the world, which analyze the degree of representation of universities on the Internet. It has been compiled since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council at the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain.
The developers announce it twice a year – in July and in January.
The evaluation of universities takes place through a combination of four indicators:
- presence – the number of pages on sites in the main domain of the institution (including subdomains and directories) that are indexed by the Google search engine – 5%;
- visibility – the combination of the number of external links to the university’s domain, which are calculated by Ahrefs.com and Majestic – 50%;
- transparency (or openness) – the number of citations of the top authors of the institution (the top ten authors with the exception of data on the most cited author) in Google Scholar (Top Universities by Google Scholar Citations) – 10%;
- excellence (quality) – the number of publications of university scientists in international scientific journals, which are included in the top 10% of the most quoted in 26 areas of science according to the Scimago ranking (for a five-year period (2011-2015 pp.)) – 35%.
