Interview with the leader of the ensemble

“All Stars” is a vocal ensemble of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, acting under the leadership of Olena Cherevata.
The participants of the ensemble have repeatedly participated in international competitions, demonstrating to the whole world the beauty and sincerity of the Ukrainian song. Recently our vocalists have returned from the festival “Ukrainian carol 2018”, which was held in Lviv. The head of the ensemble, Olena Volodymyrivna Cherevata told us about this festival.
- Olena Volodymyrivna, you recently returned from Lviv. There was a festival-contest “Ukrainian Christmas Carol 2018”. How did the people of Lviv greet you?
They met us very warmly. Ignoring the fact that we did not know all the conditions of the festival and other bands, especially from the western regions, performed brighter, but when our students performed, the audience applauded, it was a standing ovation.
- Was this the first time you participated in this festival?
Yes, this year we participated for the first time in the festival.
- How did you know about the festival? Who was the organizer of this competition?
My Lviv colleagues-volunteers told me about the competition. The organizer was the Lviv public organizations with the support of the Regional State Administration.
- What was prepared for this contest? Could you fully discover the tradition of celebrating Christmas in our region?
We prepared six carols, but, unfortunately, unlike the others, we have not preserved the regional authenticity, but we will work on it.
- As you know, participating in the competition is a considerable responsibility. Did you manage to combine both the performance and the rest?
Yes, we had a great rest. Lviv prepared for us various free excursions: Town Hall, Belz, Sakal, excursion “Miracle tram”; In addition, we tried the local cuisine. So, it was a wonderful vacation.
- What did you bring home?
We brought many souvenirs, gifts, lots of gifts, and, of course, a good mood.
- Olena Volodymyrivna, as the head of the ensemble, tell us, please, what is planned for the next year? Are you planning to participate again in the “Ukrainian Christmas Carol”?
Yes. We plan to participate again in the “Ukrainian Christmas Carol”. We will prepare a theatrical performance. Having inspired by such a trip, we think about what we will be able to show next year. In the nearest future, we are waiting for a contest in Poland.
