Generous Evening

On January 13, Ukrainians traditionally celebrate the Generous evening.

This day carries a lot of customs and traditions. From the evening and until midnight, the generators go home. According to the old traditions, New Year rounds of melankari occur after sunset. On Melanka’s holiday, the bachelor groups go and “lead Melanka.” The guys in masks express kind wishes, amuse with songs, dances, playful skits.

We also met this holiday with loud songs. The College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University together with the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College prepared the holiday “Generous Evening, Good Evening”.

The students created a real theatrical performance of the saints. Here, they arranged get-together, told not only carols, but also funny stories. Leaders held a quiz to remember the history and traditions of the Generous evening. Incendiary dances, wonderful songs created a real atmosphere of the holiday. At the end of the event, the presenters reminded that our Ukrainian traditions live and we remember them. In addition, they wished peace, happiness and happy holidays to all those present.
