The project “Hostel” is finished

The Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology became the initiator of the project “Hostel”.

In July 2017, the Institute found international partners who decided to help students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University to renovate and equip the hostel No. 93.

At the beginning of the project, a group of experts held a focus group with the management and student self-government of the ER IPP and the hostel, during which the social and domestic problems of students living in the hostel were identified.

The UNHCR Regional Office in Ukraine and donors from Germany became partners of the ER IPP in the arrangement of the hostel.

The repair work began in August. Tiles and linoleum were laid on the floor, walls were plastered, sewer pipes were made; boilers, refrigerators, washing machines, gas stoves, dryers, kettles, lighting lamps, toilets were purchased and connected.

In addition, the rooms were equipped with beds and bed linens, thermal blankets, orthopedic mattresses, hypoallergenic pillows, desks, bedside tables, cabinets, bookshelves, as well as plastic windows, doors were inserted.

A lot of repair efforts were made by the students themselves. They helped the masters to hang wallpaper, paint the walls, clean up old furniture and things, and equip the rooms.

The Vice-Rectors Oleksandr Babichev and Dmytro Kovalyov made a significant contribution to the project.

In the renovated hostel, students met the foreign partners with bread and salt, words of greeting and gratitude, a luxurious table with traditional Ukrainian dishes.

Guests from Germany were amazed by the hospitality and charm of our girls, the perseverance and diligence of the children. Finally, foreign partners expressed hope for further cooperation.

Now students are completely satisfied with the comfortable living conditions in the hostel. This, as you know, is the key to successful education and creative development.
