The play “Konotop Witch”

Students and lecturers of the University visited the Luhansk Regional Academic Musical Drama Theater.

On December 16, students together with the lecturers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University visited the Luhansk Regional Academic Musical Drama Theater. That day was the play “Konotop Witch” by G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko. The story, which was written as far back as the 19th century, was performed in a new way – a rap burlesque in two acts. The Director Volodymyr Moskovchenko turned everything upside down. Hip-hop was instead of folk dances, and rap was instead of the usual songs.

The updated version of the story caused surprise and delight among the audience, because nobody expected that it would be possible to interpret the “Konotop Witch” in this way. After the performance, the students told what they think about him. “I am amazed, amazed by the skills and interesting performance, amazed by the pitch, it was impossible to tear off my eyes. I sat in anticipation of what would happen next. And although I know this story, its content, I was interested in how the actors will submit it. After all, I see this option with hip-hop and rap for the first time. I could not even imagine that the usual story can be turned into such an action,” – the second-year student Serhii Teryaev told.

The students expressed hope that they will continue to attend such events, because they not only promote cultural development, but also allow them to have fun.
