World AIDS Day at LTSNU
2.12.2017
The World AIDS Day was celebrated at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Traditionally, on December 1, the world community once again unites with the goal of social tolerance and the expansion of information exchange about the pandemic, which is rapidly spreading across all regions of the globe. Such joint actions offer great opportunities for organized efforts to combat HIV and AIDS.
Teachers and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University are always actively involved in socially important projects. This year, the volunteer detachment “Zabota” resumed its activity, the participants of which have already held the first action. As a symbol of solidarity with HIV-positive and sick persons, volunteers presented a red ribbon to university teachers and students. “AIDS is not to be feared, it is necessary to know more about it,” – the squad members summed it up.
The activists of the youth initiative group “INVENTORS”, who organized and conducted the action “Knowledgeable Youth – Healthy Youth”, did not stay aside. With the assistance of the United Nations Population Fund, the ICF “Alliance of Public Health” and the NGO “La Strada – Ukraina”, young people distributed symbolic tapes and information booklets to everyone. Also activists conducted a meaningful lecture for students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. They told about the need to fight the pandemic and conducted an interesting quiz, the winners of which received valuable prizes.
World AIDS Day allows us to reflect on the value of human life and health. Humanity can resist global problems and continue to develop only together.
