Happy Anniversary, dear Institute!

The Institute of Physical Education and Sports celebrated its 70th anniversary.

We are only seventy! Under this slogan, a solemn event dedicated the 70th anniversary of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was held. It is difficult to answer, if 70 years is a lot or a little. On the scale of history, it is a short period of time, but many heroic, wise and great things were done during this time! Many graduates of the Institute conquered the scientific and sports peaks of Ukraine and the world!

It was impossible to start without noticing people who laid the foundation and made every effort to develop the Institute. These are outstanding personalities, including the deans of the educational institution: S.F. Chubar, V.P. Shovgur, A.I. Erchev, M.P. Gileva, V.D. Zinchenko, A.M. Kasatkin, A.P. Poltavsky, G.M. Maksimenko, V.V. Martynenko. Also were remembered the great athletes, who won the World and Olympic championships: A. Chukanov, V.Krivov, F.Lashchenov, B.Belyava, N.Chuzhikov, I.Korobchinsky, G.Misyutin, A.Bryzgin, A.Bryzgina.

Therefore, after a short historical reference, the solemn event was started by the Director of the Institute Yuriy Mykhailovych Polulyashchenko, who congratulated all those who are directly related to the existence and development of the institution. It was a sincere gratitude to the teachers, former leaders and employees, graduates and students who glorified the Institute of Physical Education and Sports. Yuriy Mykhailovych also expressed his special gratitude to the leadership of the University, the Luhansk region and the Kreminna district, the Director of the regional sports center “Olimp” and the Director of the Kreminna professional lyceum for the great help that the Institute is constantly providing in the evacuation.

The honored guests, such as: the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the chairman of the Supervisory Council, the chairman of the Academic Council of the University Vitalii Kurylo, the deputy chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Olga Lishik, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the University Oleksandr Babichev, chairmen of the Kreminna and Starobilsk District State Administrations, the Kreminna District Council, heads of educational institutions of the Kreminna district and the region, outstanding athletes came to the holiday with greetings and valuable gifts. In addition to gifts, the heads of the region, university, district and city awarded the Director and the teaching staff of the Institute with diplomas.

Between greetings and congratulations, the amateur performances were presented by students of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, collectives of the Regional House of Culture and pupils of the regional lyceum “Cadet Corps named after the heroes of the Young Guard”. They were vocal performances, plastic sketch, flash mob with incendiary lezginka and other dance performances.

The culmination of the holiday was the presentation of the institute’s memorable awards to the heads of the region, the university, outstanding persons, sportsmen “For fruitful cooperation and support in the field of education of the institute’s specialists who wrote their names with gold letters in the history of Ukraine”. The Director of the Institute, Yu.M. Polulyashchenko and People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo presented the awards.

The Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports expresses sincere gratitude to all those present and organizers of this event, which has become an outstanding event in the life of the Institute.
