MoPED is a capacity development project aimed at modernizing universities in Ukraine. The aim is to modernize curricula for pedagogical universities in Ukraine by including new courses based on the latest IT methods. The project will affect the quality of pedagogical higher education and will strengthen the digital and didactic competences of future teachers.
The MoPED project plans to develop 18 semester disciplines (new training courses) – three for each university participant in the project, include them in university curricula and accredit them at the institutional level. This will ensure the modernization of the Bachelor’s curriculum at each participating University in the direction STEAM-training (science, technology, mathematics), to conduct trainings for representatives of the faculty of Ukrainian universities participating in the project, to ensure the operation and sustainable development of the developed courses and the development of new ones.
Five trainings will be organized (three trainings will be conducted on the basis of universities – foreign partners of the project, and two ones – independently by each university), 450 teachers of Ukrainian universities will be trained; an “Innovative Learning Room” (ICR) will be created in each partner institution. It will be an educational space of the 21st century, formed on the basis of the best European practices. Six of these rooms will be created on the basis of pre-designed concepts and implementation plans. They will serve as a practical base for learning and gaining knowledge and skills in the application of modern teaching methods and tools.
The main focus is on effective cooperation between universities, between school teachers and associations, which strengthen internationalization, transfer of knowledge and academic ability. To this end, the MoPED ecosystem will be created to launch an innovative professional environment to facilitate the exchange and broadcasting of effective teacher practices.
The project will also focus on the development of the Digital Teacher Profile that will apply the analysis of the higher pedagogical education of the EU and Ukraine and will fully comply with the modern pedagogical tendencies and the policy of educational reform in Ukraine; the improvement of English proficiency by representatives of the teaching staff through the introduction of an intensive English course.
As a result, a new training course in English should be developed in each Ukrainian partner institution; gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to create a profile of students’ competence in the new disciplines; dissemination of knowledge gained from EU partners, with about 300 primary and secondary school teachers through 12 trainings; maximize the impact of MoPED on the end user with MoPED products; presentation of the project results through various channels of information dissemination, including international / national vocational education networks (eTwinning, school educational portal, Scientix), the project event “Technology and Education in Ukraine” and master classes based on modern teaching methods and tools.
In connection with the implementation of this project, an administrative and academic group will be established at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
