Honoring the memory of Holodomor victims

The memory of Holodomor victims was honored in the College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
In pursuance of the letter of the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk State Regional Administration and the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 26.11.2016 No. 523/2016 “On Measures in Connection with the 85th Anniversary of Holodomor 1932-1933 in Ukraine – the Genocide of the Ukrainian People” the College of LTSNU hosted an event in order to honor the memory of Holodomor victims. The students learned about the scale of cruelty with which the Ukrainian people; they honored the memory of people who died from starvation of the countrymen with a minute of silence. The student self-government of the LTSNU College has issued a thematic newspaper “In memory of Holodomor victims”.
November 25, a teacher of Ukrainian history held a thematic lecture for college students on the Memorial Day of Holodomor Victims. The topic of the lecture touched every living person alive. The lecturer’s recollections of eyewitnesses, which spoke of terrible conditions, the struggle fought for their existence by millions of Ukrainians, the price of collectivization, the export of grain and food abroad, were especially impressive. During the event, the documentary film “The Harvest of Desperation” (1983, the authors are Svyatoslav Novitsky and Yuri Lugovy, Canada) was revised on the prerequisites and causes of the Holodomor.
