Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College hosted an event dedicated to the Memorial Day of the Holodomor Victims of 1932-1933.
During the event, students recalled that the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine is one of the largest humanitarian disasters in the history of mankind, this is the most terrible crime of the then regime, as a result of which millions of Ukrainians died. The tragedy of the Holodomor was hushed up for many decades, so the authorities tried to hide the truth.
Today it is legally recognized that the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine is a genocide of the Ukrainian people, and the historical fact of this crime is recognized in official documents of the majority of the countries of the world.
Interesting facts, touching lines of works, impressive documentary footage – all this did not leave indifferent any of those present.
A symbolic funeral candle was lit as a sign of respect for the bright memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine.
The students noted that to love their native land, to be a patriot of their state means to respect its past and do everything possible for a happy future: to study well and work conscientiously, to respect parents and take care of the younger generation, to believe in oneself and help others, to know their history state and preserve national traditions and multiply them. They expressed their love and patriotic feelings in their own works written about the native land and its defenders.
The motto of the event was the lines of the poem written by the fourth-year student of the College Polina Zastavetska:
Ми хочемо жити по закону
В своїй країні… Мирно жити…
At the end of the event, the students cut the loaf as a symbol of the prosperity and generosity of the Ukrainian people and the hope for a happy and peaceful future.
