The senior lecturer of the Department of Sports Disciplines became the World Powerlifting Champion for the third time in a row!
So, the senior lecturer of the Department of Sports Disciplines of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports Dmytro Semenenko became the World Powerlifting Champion for the third time in a row! It was so brightly! Three world records! One record was in his strongest exercise – squats and two records – in the sum of triathlon!
On the eve of the World Championships, the winners and prize-winners of the World Games were awarded with state awards. Dmytro Semenenko received the medal “For Work and Valor”. Still not having time to properly rest after those battles, our sportsman took part in the third World Championships for himself.
The opponents in the weight category up to 105 kg this year were very strong. Among the contenders for prizes were almost 6-7 athletes. Among them were World and European champions and prize-winners, European record-holders.
But in fact, as the competition showed, it was a very sharp and vivid struggle between two Ukrainian powerlifters, two representatives of the Donbas, representatives of the Luhansk and Donetsk powerlifting school, Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine Dmyro Semenenko and the International Master of Sports of Ukraine Oleksandr Rubets.
In the first exercise – squats – athletes alternately updated the world record, which eventually remained for our athlete. Now it is equal to 445.5 kg!
In the second exercise – bench press – Dmytro surpassed himself, adding to his best result 22.5 kg. As a result, this is 302, kg and the third place in the exercise.
But, as they say in powerlifting, the winner of the competitions in triathlon determines the final exercise – deadlift.
This evening Ukrainian athletes solved their issues on the platform, not noticing around them rivals. After the first two successful attempts in the deadlift, both times, the records of the world were updated in the amount of triathlon. The tension lasted until the last attempt. Only it defined the World Champion in 2017. With a record sum of triathlon 1090.5 kg, our sportsman became the winner for the third time in a row! This result allowed Dmytro Volodymyrovych in the overall standings to enter the top three of the world best powerlifters!
Oleksandr Rubets won the second place with a record of the World Junior Championship – 1070.5 kg!
Congratulations to Ukraine with a bright victory!
We look forward to the performance of two more representatives of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports, two master students majoring in “Sports”: Mykola Barannik and Oleksii Bychkov.
